✧ Character Profile![]() ![]() Astra Will-o-Wish is a young magic student and aspiring sorcerer from Amaranth, living in a village on the Blue Kingdom along with his parents Stella and Orion as well as his younger sister Cosmo. Although belonging to a family of sorcerers, rather than practicing magic like expected, Astra cheated his way into power by striking a deal with an evil being named Sclera, who merged her powers with his, taking his right eye as a price. This made them capable of communicating telepathically, with Sclera's dark influence taking over him at times and Astra looking up to her for guidance. This made Astra become not only way too powerful for someone his age, but also dangerous due to his unpredictable nature, becoming way too powerful for his own good. Sclera - Best Friend / GuardianSclera was an exiled Angel that Astra read about in an old magic book that used to belong to his grandmother. Disregarding the warnings about the creature, he read of how Sclera had been imprisoned in the depths of the Amaranthian cave systems, which had been sealed away from the public by the Spades Suit, and was said to have powers beyond his imagination. In his determination to find the creature and borrow its abilities, he pressed on to try and find it. He eventually found Sclera in the caves, who was hidden in shadows and attempted to speak to it, only to find that it spoke back to him, telepathically. He was terrified, but made his request to the being, who seemed dismissive of him at first, only wanting to be left alone due to thinking he was sent by the Spades Suit. But Astra was persistent and begged for her help, catching Sclera's attention as she took notice of how easily she could exploit a child's naivety, taking advantage of Astra's powerful magic lineage. The only way that Sclera could share her powers with him was if he gave her something in return, particularly an eye into the outside world, seeing as Sclera had been blinded when she was imprisoned and had lived in total silence and darkness for millennia. Astra was hesitant at first, but eventually agreed, taking pity in the blind demon. As such, he gave her his right eye, blinding himself like she had been, resulting in the two becoming connected. While Sclera stayed in the caves, from that moment on, Astra could hear the demon's voice in his mind, guiding him, giving him advice and encouragement. Astra wasn't expecting this at first, but eventually his fear of Sclera subsided as the bond between the two grew stronger. Sclera kept her side of the deal, enhancing Astra's abilities and helping him learn forbidden magic in secret. And as time went on, Astra took notice of how Sclera went from being dismissive of him to warming up to his progress. Sclera often communicates with him telepathically and Astra has gotten into the habit of chatting with her, often finding himself looking like he's talking to himself. He knows he can just think his conversations with her, but he finds that talking is easier when no one is looking. They have a very close and amicable friendship, with Astra often seeking Sclera's reassurance and her almost taking a motherly role over him, trying to protect him from danger and trying to keep the truth of her true intentions from him. She expected to discard him as soon as she was done using him, but unfortunately, she got attached. |

Maple - FriendMaple is Astra's classmate who often sits next to him during their classes. This is literally the only reason they talk, else Astra wouldn't even have taken notice of the shy bat girl. She's not as good with magic so he sometimes to tries to help her out, though it's mostly out of frustration that she doesn't always does things correctly and is very clumsy with her work. However this backfired, since now Maple is almost constantly asking him for help with her work. She's still nice and polite and is consistently friendly towards him, so he doesn't mind hanging around her and will defend her when she gets bullied. |

Abra Kadabra - Friend/CrushAbra is a Clown girl for an older class, Astra met her through Maple who introduced her to him and they quickly became a small friend group. Astra has a crush on her and tends to become either very flustered around her or alternatively tries to show off his abilities in over-confident displays of showmanship in hopes that she notices him. Abra is very spunky and sassy and usually doesn't take his little moody fits. They're still friends and hang out in their circle, but Astra is still really shy about telling her how he feels. He's completely convinced that she hasn't noticed. |

Starlet - DislikeStarlet is a bully from Abra's class who seemed to have taken an interest in bullying Abra due to being jealous of her popularity. Despite Abra not caring about this nor Starlet's poor attempts at bullying, Astra still saw it as his duty to try and defend Abra, which in turn got Starlet to begin to target him as well. She keeps calling him a weirdo with tiny horns and Astra fights back by telling her that at least he has two of them. ...Which doesn't work. Why would a unicorn want two horns? |

Cosmo - Little SisterCosmo is Astra's little baby sister and she acts just like that. He only hangs out with her because he has to and they often have a lot of sibling squabble, with Cosmo getting away with just about anything because of being the younger sibling while Astra often gets scolded for not being responsible enough. They get somewhat along, but Cosmo is very nagging of him and will use whatever excuse she can just to embarrass him in front of his friends, so Astra often avoids having her around whenever he's hanging out with his friends. She can and will spread rumors. |

Stella - MotherStella is Astra's mother, who often questions where she went wrong in her life to end up having a literally cursed child. They always got somewhat along, but ever since Astra lost his eye and exploded half of their house because of Sclera's powers, Stella has honestly no idea what to do. She doesn't know that her son is possessed by a demon and knows that implying such a thing is a definitive way to get him taken away from them, so she remains quiet. She is absolutely terrified of his powers so she tries her best to stay on his good side and keep his mood under control. But he's just a child... Certainly his teen years won't be worse... Right? |
Orion - FatherStern father, but too can't stand up to his terrible kid, him and Astra don't get along too well. Orion probably wanted to practice more stern parenting habits, but Stella and Nova were always against it. At least until now. |
Nova - GrandmotherNova was Astra's grandmother who he was very close with before she passed away. While his parents were indifferent to whether he'd want to learn magic or not, Nova was always very encouraging of it, and they shared that interest in common, with Nova's past as a witch and fortune teller influencing Astra to wish to learn more, She saw his great potential for magic and spent a great portion of his early childhood teaching him about magic and sharing her own passion for it. Even before he went to school for it, Astra already had most of the basics of magic down because of her teachings. Nova passed very suddenly, and Astra never really had a chance to say goodbye, and his refusal to accept her death was what caused him to spiral completely and get himself cursed out of trying to find a way to bring her back. Now that I think about it, Astra's backstory would be a lot shorter if his parents just put him in therapy when his grandmother died. I think that would certainly fix a lot of problems. |

Queen of Spades - Neutral / FearAstra never had much to say regarding the Queen of Spades, being too young to ever take an interest in the monarch. But when him and Sclera became connected, he was told of the things the Spades Suit had done, and how much Sclera had been hurt by her. Despite never having met the queen, Astra can't help but dislike her for the way she has treated Sclera in her past lives. |
Astra was a perfectly normal child, being raised by his sorcerer parents Stella and Orion, as well as his grandmother Nova, who had been a powerful witch in her younger years.
Although getting along fine with his parents, Astra's strongest bond was with his grandmother. She told him stories and taught him magic from a very young age, all while also spoiling him and taking his side whenever he got in trouble, often allowing him to get away with things he wouldn't otherwise.
Despite these issues, he was still a good child and was dedicated to learning magic to continue the family's legacy. His grandmother had been bedridden for all the time he knew her, and eventually, as her sickness caught up with her, one day she simply passed away in her sleep.
Astra wasn't home when this happened, so upon returning and hearing the news of Nova's passing, he felt devastated. He didn't see it, he didn't talk to her, he didn't get any closure and this broke his heart.
In his grief, he often found himself rummaging through her old belongings until he came across a spell-book that she had never shown him. The book spoke of dark magic, spells long forbidden by the kingdom and lost to time.
Among these spells, the book also spoke of ancient entities all over the world and the magic they possessed, as well as ways one could harness their powers. And with the kingdom he lived on being a hotspot for these beings, Astra continued to research them, coming across a particular one that was imprisoned in the old caverns deep in the woods and away from the everything and everyone.
The book spoke of how a deal with this being could amplify one's magic skills, as well as allow them to perform spells the average Drimare couldn't, spells which included forbidden magic such as contacting the deceased or bringing the dead back to life, which caught Astra's attention as he saw this as a way of bringing his deceased grandmother back and finally getting closure.
Astra spent the next days packing up to look for the entity, never letting his parents in on what he was planning to do. He knew they'd never let him go if they found out about his plans, so he became very secretive until one night, he simply left the house while they slept.
He went out, determined to find this fabled entity that could make him powerful enough to bring the dead back to life. Although the caverns had been closed off from the public, he managed to sneak right through the magic barriers put in place with the help of the old book's spells.
He went deeper into the caverns, until he found what he was looking for. The entity from his book. It hung in the shadows, held by magical chains that held it in place. Astra could still make up its monstrous appearance, it was humanoid, with various sets of large dark wings filled with gaping sockets where eyes should be, dripping a strangely coloured liquid he presumed to be the being's blood.
It spoke to him telepathically, calling herself Sclera as she claimed to be a blind angel who could sense his powerful magic. A past reincarnation of the Queen of Spades had sealed her and many other demons away for the sake of protecting the Blue Kingdom, but Astra was not aware of this. Despite being horrified of her appearance, Sclera claimed to not wish to hurt him as she had nothing to gain by hurting a child, and Astra wanted to believe that this was a benevolent being, who would be willing to help him.
But he was wrong. He struck a conversation with the being, explaining his reasoning and why he wanted to borrow its power just for this one thing. Hearing this, Sclera saw how she could take advantage of this child's naivety in order to get herself out from the caverns. His wish was ridiculous and the entity knew Astra wouldn't be able to pull off the spell regardless of his powerful magical lineage.
Astra was lead to believe that a deal with the demon meant he'd receive its powerful abilities when in reality this meant that Sclera would be able to use him as a vessel. She wouldn't be able to leave the cave, but Astra could become one of her eyes into the outside world.
And that was all she needed. Strong powers and the fake promise of a reunion with a lost relative, all for a very simple price. An eye into the outside world. One of Astra's eyes.
Astra was horrified of this thought, but his determination to see Nova again along with a promise of stronger powers than the ones he had was just too good to be true.
And it was.
Hours later, Astra found himself back home, his parents were worried sick over him being gone for days, and were even more horrified over finding their son with a bleeding gaping hole in his face, his right eye was completely missing. His parents tried to get him to explain what had happened, but he was in a completely catatonic state.
When he gazed into a mirror, aside from the bleeding hole on his face, Astra noticed something else. His other eye, previously with a normal round pupil, now had a white four point star in its place. Astra had really fuzzy memories of what had happened and he just felt really off, becoming increasingly frustrated with his parent's over-protectiveness of him after the incident.
All the while, the entity began to talk to him in his mind, empowering and encouraging him. His magic was becoming more powerful, and with the frustration of not remembering what had happened, the new voice speaking in his mind, and the anger at his parents for never leaving him alone one day suddenly caused Astra to lash out, releasing a powerful burst of magic that destroyed part of their house.
During this explosive tantrum, his parents caught a glimpse of something else that was with their son. This magic wasn't his own, it was as if it was being amplified by something... or someone... Astra didn't care though. He began closing himself off from his family, lashing out at his parents, not being afraid to threaten them when upset. He was still himself at times, but Sclera was quick to guide him if he started getting too distracted.
His parents began to grow afraid of him, but knowing that their son would be taken away if they even dared suggest that he had gotten involved with dark magic, they never sought to get him any help.
Astra still thought of his grandmother, he could never get the spell to work right, but Sclera didn't care.
She had bigger plans for him.
