Growing Wings, blatantly named after the song of the same name, was 13 year old me's big passion project. During 2009 and 2010 I was following a lot of Sonic webcomics on DeviantArt and I thought they were the coolest thing ever, and for the longest time I really wanted to make a comic of my own.

Sometime before making this, I tried to make a Knuckles x Rouge comic, but lost interest in that project and when my Jackle x NiGHTS fixation began and it felt like there was absolutely 0 interest in the ship, I somehow felt like it was my personal responsibility to get more people into it. And what better way to do that than to make a comic?

It also happened at a period of time when my family was going through all sorts of issues and the comic became an escape from all of that. I didn't exactly had a firm story I wanted to follow, the main idea was "Jackle is tasked with a mission to capture NiGHTS but something something they end up falling in love instead".

There are 3 versions of this comic. The first draft, which is about 200 pages long and is uncolored and very very bad. (I'd post it here if the prospect of scanning 200 old drawings and creating pages for every single one of them all while dealing with what my 2010 self considered to be "humor" didn't make my stomach turn LMAO)

There is the second version, which is this one and it's the "improved" version of that first one, if that puts into perspective how bad the first one was. And there's the remake, which even though I developed some lore for, was only 7 pages long and was subsequently abandoned when I just couldn't grasp the hyperfixation power I had in the past to be able to focus on it.

With that being said, yeah. This comic is old and the writing is dubious at best, and as usual, it's only here for archival purposes. :'D Enjoy...?

"Jackle is in love with NiGHTS and escapes Nightmaren prison to tell her about his true feelings, while trying not to get caught by Reala and others who are trying to get him.

NiGHTS naturally rejects him because she values her duty to help the humans and fears Jackle is only trying to gain her trust to get closer to her to attack her.

SOMEHOW they eventually fall in love and this description is better than the actual comic, which was originally around 198 pages of filler and fart jokes because because I was like 13 when I made it and was actually dedicated to it lol."
